Bijeljina to host riders of the International Cycling Race Belgrade – Banja Luka

The 17th International Cycling Race Belgrade – Banja Luka will be organised from 19th to 22nd April. The start of the first stage will be in Belgrade, and the last one will be in Banja Luka.
This year, 170 riders from more than 30 countries from four continents are competing. For some of them this will be an opportunity to gather points for the participation at Olympic Games in Paris next year.

The first stage will start at the Republic Square in Belgrade on 19th April. Crossing the state border over Pavlović Bridge is expected on the same day around 15:00. Fifteen minutes later, the riders are expected to arrive to Bijeljina, for the finish of the first stage, at Nikole Tesle Street.

On the same day at 14:00, at the King Petar I Karađorđević Square, cycling races for children will be organised, as well as cultural and entertainment programme, from 15:30 to 16:00, or before the stage winner announcement ceremony.

The next day, on 20th April at 11:00, the second stage of the Race will start from Vuka Karadžića Street in Bijeljina with finish in Vlasenica. Arrival to the finish of the second stage in Vlasenica is expected around 14:00.

The Race finish is planned for 22nd April at the Airport Zalužani in Banja Luka.

Traditionally, the City of Bijeljina is the sponsor of the first stage finish and the start of the second stage of this Race.

“Hosting such a big and lengthy sports event is another confirmation that we are truly a city of sport. At the same time, it is a promotion of cycling and a healthy way of life. We are glad that the athletes symbolically erase borders and connect cities in Serbia and Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Radoslav Ostojić, advisor to the mayor, during the ceremony of signing the cooperation agreement with the Race organisers.
