The City of Bijeljina will shortly put into operation a GIS system that will allow easier communication between citizens, the City Administration, businessmen and other interested parties.

- Aiming to improve the quality of services of the City Administration, the City of Bijeljina has been implementing the project „Improvement of public services in the City of Bijeljina through introduction of GIS system“, Geographic Information System (GIS), i.e. a computer system for collecting, storing, processing, analysis and presentation of spatially defined data. On this occasion, the final presentation was held today so the users of this system could be informed in detail about the new service - said Ankica Todorović, a Head of the Department for Local Economic Development in the Bijeljina City Administration.

The project is worth cca BAM 140,000 (cca € 71.800) and, on this way, the activities of all organizational units of local self-governance system are linked into one functional unit.

The Mayor of Bijeljina Mićo Mićić, who attended today's final presentation, stated that application of the GIS by the  local self'-government would significantly contribute to improving the quality of public services to citizens, businessmen, potential investors, but also ensure more efficient operations and lower administration costs. GIS users would be all individuals, companies and administrative bodies that are in any way concerned with the management and exploitation of spatial objects
