Concrete Makes Way for Greenery: A New Green Space to Be Created Near Sokolski Dom
Work will begin in the coming days on the development of a new green and inclusive public space near Sokolski Dom in the centre of Bijeljina, as part of the URBACT Pioneers Accelerator project.
The project is being implemented by the City of Bijeljina through its Section for Local Economic Development and European Integration, with the aim of transforming a neglected and underutilized area into a functional public space for residents.
According to the announced plans, the new public space will feature shaded benches, a chess table, and landscaped green areas designed to provide a more pleasant outdoor environment and improve the quality of life in the city centre.
This pilot initiative promotes sustainable urban solutions and greater citizen participation in shaping public spaces. It represents the first step toward creating more modern, and more accessible urban areas.
Throughout the implementation of the project, the public will be kept informed about the progress of the works. Once completed, Bijeljina is expected to gain a new green oasis dedicated to relaxation, recreation, and social interaction for its residents.
