Economic issues, the investment attraction and job creation measures were at the agenda of the today's talks of Bijeljina Mayor Mićo Mićić and US Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack, who was on her visit to the City of Bijeljina.

Mayor Mićić presented to the US Ambassador information confirming economic growth in the City of Bijeljina despite last year's floods and economic crisis. Among other things, there were 380 more enterprises registered than in 2014, the number of employees increased for 1500, while there were 500 unemployed persons less recorded at the Employment bureau:

- A significant part of our efforts was devoted to equipping industrial zones, which was also supported by USAID through the "GOLD“project as well as improving the other infrastructure. These activities are the responsibility of local government. The important factors are the political and economic stability that has been accomplished at the local level, but the higher authority levels, at BiH and Republic of Srpska level should also contribute to their accomplishment, said the Mayor Mićić.

Besides the local issues, at the meeting was discussed on the possibilities that the new Law on Local Self-government provide local communities with greater benefits from the natural resources which are present in their territories.
