Mayor Presents Key Projects of the City of Bijeljina for 2026
In addition to numerous standard budget allocations across various sectors, as well as ongoing subsidies and incentives, the 2026 budget includes the following major and significant projects:
1. The largest environmental project to date, “Let’s Clean Semberija”, including the construction of a park in the Knez Ivo od Semberije neighbourhood and the introduction of an irrigation system for the existing City Park;
2. Construction of new roads:
- a road connecting Vladimira Gaćinovića Street and Mučenika Romanovih Street
- a road connecting the Koviljuše neighbourhood and Raja Banjičića Street
- a road connecting Vojvode Radomira Putnika Street and Josifa Marinkovića Street
- reconstruction of the streets surrounding the Square
- asphalt paving in rural local communities under the programme “The Team Cleans – the City Asphalts”
- reconstruction of sections of pedestrian areas in Sremska Street and Cara Uroša Street
3. Reconstruction of schools:
- completion of the new school and kindergarten “Sveti Sava” in Donje Crnjelovo
- reconstruction of the roof of Primary School “Petar Kočić” in Balatun
- reconstruction of heating systems in the Agricultural and Medical School
- continuation of the reconstruction of Primary School “Jovan Dučić” in Bijeljina
- continuation of the reconstruction of Primary School “Ćirilo i Metodije” in Banjica
- continuation of the reconstruction of Primary School “Dositej Obradović” in Suvo Polje
- completion of the sports hall within Primary School “Petar Petrović Njegoš” in Velika Obarska
4. Reconstruction of the roof and façade of the “Bauer House”
5. Continuation of the construction of the “Semberija House”
6. Construction of a skate park
7. Renovation and construction of cultural centres:
- continuation of the construction of the cultural centre in Batković
- continuation of the reconstruction of the cultural centre in Trnjaci
- reconstruction of the cultural centre in Balatun
- reconstruction of the cultural centre in Popovi
8. Commencement of construction of the “Filip Višnjić” Centre in Međaši
9. Completion and equipping of the Children’s Shelter
10. Continuation of the construction of the Fire Station
11. Development of the centre of Patkovača
12. Procurement of a hyperbaric chamber
Following the repayment of more than BAM 35 million and currently having the lowest credit indebtedness rate in Republika Srpska, the City of Bijeljina is ready to undertake new borrowing. A decision is currently being prepared, and the loan funds would be used to finance the following projects:
- completion of the sports hall
- reconstruction of Račanska Street
- reconstruction of Stefana Dečanskog Street
- reconstruction of the district heating plant
- continuation of expropriation for the construction of the Drina flood embankment
- procurement of a fire engine for firefighting in multi-storey buildings
